John Robinson, President, On My Mountain, Inc.
What happens when it is no longer just species or unique habitats, but environmental conservation itself that is endangered? An award-winning ornithologist, John has spoken to thousands of people worldwide to explain why minority involvement in environmental issues will become ever more vital to long-term conservation efforts and the preservation of our natural resources. Robinson also wrote a natural history account of the Passenger Pigeon in his landmark book, An Annotated Checklist of the Birds of Tennessee. John's presentation usually includes a short video clip featuring his work with kids in nature -- taken from one of the two Emmy-award winning TV series he has appeared in.
Emphasis of Talk: Connecting Youth to Nature. Specifically, my presentation features me sharing my top 10 secrets on how to successfully connect youth to nature. I draw upon my latest book, Birding for Everyone, as well as my interactions with teachers & educators from around the world to help encourage new and diverse audiences to experience, embrace, and appreciate nature.
